ATA Associates was honored to be a stop on the Leadership Clear Lake Insights Discovery & Industry Tour in September.
The Leadership Clear Lake program is “designed to focus on personal and professional development along with community study and involvement. The purpose of the class is to educate and equip young professionals (i.e. future leaders) with the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in a leadership role within their businesses, non-profit organizations, and our community.”
A Behind the Scenes Look at Accident Reconstruction
Participants received a tour of ATA’s facility, along with a behind the scenes look into the world of accident reconstruction.
CEO and owner, Bob Swint, welcomed the group with a brief history of ATA Associates and his experience by explaining a few of the numerous photographs displayed in the hallways. Several high-profile cases caught the tour group’s attention as Mr. Swint answered questions about ATA’s involvement and processes.

In the Engineering Lab, Ed Fritsch, Senior Mechanical Engineer, presented several types of technology and tools used in testing procedures. Instruments such as Strain Gauges, which are described as a gauge that detects accelerations to the human body or vehicles that have been involved with accidents, were showcased and explained.
The last stop was in the High Bay, where the Leadership students met Allen Vaughan, Mechanical Engineer, who displayed crash footage and showed computer generated models and animations created during expert investigations. Allen gave examples from a variety of case work that included car, boat, and airplane accidents. Technology used in the reconstruction process to download information from vehicles was also brought out during this time, and a severely damaged automobile was available to be explored. iPhone LIDAR scanning capabilities and its uses in recreating a 3D representation of an accident site and vehicles involved were discussed with the group.
